Kansas City Baby Photography: Tucker’s 9-Month Photos September 29, 2009

It was so much fun seeing Tucker and his parents again. :) I love this part of what I do — I get to see babies as they grow up and get big and develop cute little personalities over their first year. Doing a first year package is an awesome way for parents to capture their children over the first year, and an awesome way for me to get to hang out with cute babies multiple times throughout the year. :)

Tucker is all smiles, has the biggest blue eyes, and is just super adorable. Our session was fall themed, the weather was perfect, and we had a great time! Here are some of my favorites.

They’re such a cute family! I love the next two:

I love the fall leaves — this is a great time for fall photos, since the leaves are falling, but also still on the trees. :)

This one might be one of my favorites… I love his expression, the light, and the lines from the wooden slats!

I can’t wait to see Tucker again in a few months for his 1-year photos! :) What a cutie!

6 Months Old: Olivia in Manhattan August 10, 2009

We got to see little Olivia again this past weekend. You might remember her from her 6-week session earlier this year. She now almost 6 MONTHS old… I can’t believe how big — and adorable — she’s gotten over the past several months! Babies just grow up so fast.

We went for a visit and also brought along our “son” (Petey) who Olivia was extremely interested in… Petey, being the good boy that he is, was very patient. :) It’s a good sign for the Short (notice the capitalization of the word) children in our future… sometime way, way in the future. Well, unless we keep hanging out with adorable babies like we have lately. :)

Anyway… Miss Olivia Belle charmed us with her smiles. She is too cute.

On her mom’s lap:

What a sweetie.

I took all of these photos in one little corner of their couch in the living room. Proof that the location doesn’t always matter for adorable photos. :) Keep it simple… that’s my motto. Simplicity is key.

Favorite!

No, wait, maybe this is my favorite.

I think I said, “awwwww!!!” more times during the creation of this blog post than any other time in my life. :)

Seriously, that profile kills me with its cuteness.

Olivia loves her rubber ducky:

After all those smiles, I’ll leave you with “the serious face.” :)

Oh, she just melts my already super-soft heart… :)

Kansas City Maternity Photos: Rachel (and Jonathan!) May 10, 2009

rachel15

It was just over a year ago that I was taking Rachel and Jonathan’s engagement photos… just nine months ago that I got to stand with them as they said their vows. And just 8 weeks from the time I’ll get to meet their new little baby girl. I am so excited that I get to be a part of this exciting time in their lives and capture it on camera.

We took Rachel’s maternity photos at Shawnee Mission park. She wanted something very natural, a little “dreamy” (okay, those are my words) and colorful, so she can use the photos in the baby’s nursery. I love how these turned out… there’s nothing prettier than a mommy to be!

Of course, the expectant dad had to get in on a few photos:

I LOVE this one… seriously. Rachel looks gorgeous. And the second one. I love both of these.

This baby girl is going to be so loved…

Funny story… when we were taking shots like this next one, a bunch of cars kept pulling over on the side of the road, and staring at us… at least that’s what we thought. Then, we realized that we were standing VERY close to about six deer… who actually were staring at us. :)

rachel3

I think this one would look super cute in the nursery. It fits their color scheme and everything. :)

Rachel and Jonathan, congratulations! I can’t wait to welcome your new baby girl into the world in just eight weeks. I love you guys! :)

Olivia Belle: Baby Portraits April 5, 2009

My good friends Kipp and Breanna had their first baby in the middle of February — blessing the world with this little cutie, Olivia Belle. You might remember Breanna’s maternity session last fall. We finally got to meet her yesterday during a trip to Manhattan, and of course we captured some portraits of her! At right around 6 weeks old, you can already see her funny personality, and the resemblance she has to her parents!

Okay, on to the photos:

I love her cheeks and her cute little chin! :)

Isn’t she so pretty?

These photos of the new parents and their little girl are just precious. I think Olivia will appreciate these when she’s older.

See the family resemblance in this next one?? Two lovely ladies (lucky Kipp!). :)

This one makes me feel all cozy and snuggly. :) So adorable.

Kipp and Breanna, congratulations on your beautiful baby girl. I can’t wait to see what an awesome girl she becomes!

Troy’s 4-month portraits: Kansas City baby photography March 29, 2009

Hey there, blog readers! :) Thanks for not giving up on me last week with my one post all week long. I’m back to blogging and so excited to kick off another great week with photos of this little cutie! Troy just turned 4 months old, and he’s the newest little one to join our First Year package for babies, so you’ll be seeing him again at 8 months and 1 year! :)

I met Troy and his parents in their home this afternoon — the day after a huge springtime snowstorm. So, we stayed inside and still captured some great photos of Troy being his cute little self!

Check out his big blue eyes!

I knew we were in for an easy portrait session when I was greeted right away with big smiles. Troy is such a happy boy!

And I love serious faces — babies often get so curious about the clicking noise my camera’s shutter makes, which gives us some intense staring-into-the-camera faces that I love.

tj10

Troy really wanted to get to his toes. He succeeded. :)

tj4

Here are those cute little toes, caught in the reflection on the coffee table:

I love watching moms and dads with their babies. These photos of them interacting are so sweet.

One of my favorites… the cool green wall is in their kitchen (proof that we can do a fun photo session absolutely anywhere!).

tj7

And one more… because he’s too cute to not share another! :)

I can’t wait for our next two sessions to see how handsome Troy gets over the next several months. :)

6-month session: Carson October 1, 2008

Meet Carson. Full of wonder, curiosity and giggles, this little guy was such a joy to photograph. He’ll be turning 6 months old soon, and his parents wanted to capture this stage in his new little life. They recently relocated to Kansas City from Texas, and I am so excited that they contacted me to come meet their family and cute little Carson. Check out those clear blue eyes!

We took his 6 months photos in their home, which is always a great idea, so the little ones are in a safe and familiar environment and I can capture their expressions in a really natural way. Carson had some great facial expressions for us! :)

I just love what they’ve done in the nursery. And what a great little model Carson is — staring right into the camera at 6 months!  I’m sure it had nothing to do with the crazy noises we were making and the big camera making funny click-click-click sounds! :)

This one makes me smile so much — while Mom and Dad are focused on Carson, he’s looking into the camera like, “I know I’m really cute!” :) So precious:

In the backyard, Carson was just fascinated with the trees and leaves blowing around over his head. It’s that wonder that allows us to grab some great shots to showcase a baby’s natural curiosity of the world around them.

I just can’t get enough of little baby feet (and that funny face he’s making in the background!):

Thanks so much for choosing ericamay photography to capture this fun stage in Carson’s young life! I look forward to seeing you all again soon.
