Engagement Photos: Jessica and Tim, Overland Park Arboretum October 18, 2009

Jessica and Tim wanted fall-themed engagement photos… and since fall is by far my favorite season, I was definitely up for that. :) We decided to meet at the Overland Park Arboretum, which is always beautiful, but especially in this season when all of the trees change colors.

Jessica and Tim met working at a summer camp a few years ago, were really good friends, and eventually became a couple! Hmm… does that sound like anyone else? Maybe Jeff and me?? :) I love their story!

They were so incredibly cute together — I didn’t have to “coach” them at all with the looking super cute stuff — they just do it naturally. Here are just a few of my favorite images from their session.

Kansas City Baby Photography: Tucker’s 9-Month Photos September 29, 2009

It was so much fun seeing Tucker and his parents again. :) I love this part of what I do — I get to see babies as they grow up and get big and develop cute little personalities over their first year. Doing a first year package is an awesome way for parents to capture their children over the first year, and an awesome way for me to get to hang out with cute babies multiple times throughout the year. :)

Tucker is all smiles, has the biggest blue eyes, and is just super adorable. Our session was fall themed, the weather was perfect, and we had a great time! Here are some of my favorites.

I love the fall leaves — this is a great time for fall photos, since the leaves are falling, but also still on the trees. :)

This one might be one of my favorites… I love his expression, the light, and the lines from the wooden slats!

Operation Love Reunited Session at Overland Park Arboretum June 18, 2009

I met up with this family for an Operation: Love Reunited session at the Overland Park Arboretum. They had an adorable baby girl 5 months ago, and her dad is getting ready to leave for a military deployment next week. I was so glad that we could schedule in a session before he is away from home for a year. A big thank you for putting up with 100 degree heat index today… although I think we finished our session in record time. :)

Hopefully these photos will help this soldier take a little piece of home with him overseas.

And, of course, we had to get some with just mom and dad together. :) I think that’s so important!

Fall Family Portraits: The Harrells November 2, 2008

The morning of the Harrell’s family session, the air was so thick with fog I couldn’t even see the sign for the Overland Park Arboretum! It ended up being a wonderful backdrop and great weather for their session!

With younger kids, it’s always great to choose a location where kids can be kids and have a little bit of fun exploring and being themselves. The Overland Park Arboretum has neat trails that are not only great for photos but for letting the kids play. Since a session with me is not as still and formal as a studio session, we can get some great shots of kids being who they are. I love how these shots of Luke and Lauren turned out!

And if this isn’t completely precious sibling love, I don’t know what is…

The Harrells have to be one of the most photogenic families I’ve ever met. They look so naturally “posed” in these shots — I love it. It helps that Lauren is quite the little model…I can always count on 8-year-old girls to tie it all together. :)

They also chose great colors to wear for the session, which was especially helpful since we ended up with a very foggy, subdued background. Bright colors like this that complement each other are wonderful for family sessions!

I love seeing photos of me with my parents when I was younger. I hope these shots are a treasure for the parents right now, and can someday be fun and special reminders of childhood for the kids!
