“If I know what love is, it is because of you.” — Herman Hesse
Emily and Nate got married on one of the hottest days of the summer, at one of the most beautiful venues in the area, Circle S Ranch. Emily has been a good friend of mine for several years, and I am so excited that I was able to capture her wedding day photography. Emily and Nate met at Cornell College, and have just relocated to Columbia, Missouri, so Nate can start medical school. I am so excited for them and their new life they’ve begun!
We started out the day at a fantastic salon in Lawrence, Kansas — Headmasters. It is a really neat old house turned into a salon, with really fun details. If I lived in Lawrence, I’d definitely go here.
The families and friends of Emily and Nate spent the whole weekend at the lodge at Circle S ranch. Each room in the lodge has a different theme, and the details are amazing. I wish I would have had a few hours to peek inside all of the doors and admire the care and consideration that went into each theme. Seriously, how amazing is this venue?
Their 7 p.m. ceremony was just beautiful, despite the heat. The sun was setting and glowing through the trees — it was really lovely! The ceremony was held at the Prairie Garden venue at the ranch — perfect!
The flowers were done by the McLouth Flower Loft in McLouth, Kansas. I was so impressed with the awesome flowers and the great details they provided at the ceremony, on the wooden archways, in the bouquets and everywhere else. The staff was also extremely friendly, and seemed like they were having an awesome time working in the mid-afternoon summer sun! :)
The bride’s lovely sister, Molly, who is also a friend of ours! This is the first time we’ve seen her in several years, since she and her husband moved to New York! Now they’re headed to Wisconsin, where Noah (Molly’s husband) will work for the StageNorth Theater in Washburn, WI.
Here’s a shot of Molly, Emily, Nate and Noah — imagine getting that group to settle down for a photo! :)
Their couples’ portraits were really rushed because of the heat and the start of the reception, but it was so easy to get beautiful shots of these two in the setting sun in a Kansas prairie!
The reception was held in the “Party Barn” at the ranch, complete with a homemade Mexican dinner. Emily and Nate’s dates often took place at Mexican restaurants, so they decided to carry on the tradition at their wedding! The food was absolutely delicious — Circle S Ranch actually smokes their own meat!
Emily and Nate, thanks for letting us be a part of your special day. Family and friends of the happy couple, here’s the entire album online (if it’s not up yet, pre-register to be notified when it is ready!).
