It’s Family Photo Season in Kansas City — Family Portrait Session in the Park! October 23, 2009

Fall is such a great time for family photos. I love the colors of the trees in this area, which help brighten up the dreary weather we’ve been having this fall. :) We somehow missed the sprinkles right before and right after this session, and I was so happy! My portrait sessions for the year are starting to wind down as the weather gets colder and we all start to stay in our cozy homes for the winter. :)

I really love getting to see families multiple times for portrait sessions. The last time I saw little Carson, he was little and definitely not as fast as he is now! It’s amazing how quickly little ones grow up and how quickly they become very quick. I get some great exercise during sessions with kids around this age, for sure, and it’s so much fun. Here are some of my favorites from our session at the park!

Kansas City Family Photos: Antioch Park October 20, 2009

Fall is a great time for family portraits. It’s perfect for great colors, beautiful scenery, and just in time for Christmas cards or gifts. :) We have some great parks around Kansas City that provide beautiful backdrops for families who want fall-themed portraits. One of the prettiest right now is Antioch Park, which has about every color of tree all packed in together. It’s really beautiful!

I met up with this beautiful family for an afternoon session at the peak of the fall season — which we all know goes by way too fast here in the midwest. I love the photos we captured of them!

I like to do “matching” photos of individual kids, which make for great collage-style framed prints on walls, partnered with family photos. I try to think about how my clients might want to use their images as pairings after the shoot. Here’s an example — these two boys are so cute! Here’s George:

And his big brother, Hank:

Aren’t their outfits cute? I love the sweaters and matching blue Chucks.

I love this one of dad playing with his boys! Having two boys would be quite adventurous. :)

I love taking photos of moms and dads together, too. Aren’t these two beautiful together?

We also played in the leaves. I love the shot of Hank’s shoes in the leaves.

Kansas City Senior Photos: Gianna August 16, 2009

Tonight, we witnessed nothing short of a miracle. Thunderstorms were in the Kansas City area all day long, but we didn’t let that stop us — I met up with Gianna and her parents for her senior portrait session despite the looming clouds and thunder in the distance. Just moments after we arrived at Antioch Park, the rain let up and we went ahead with the session despite the thick heat. Gianna did an amazing job under extreme circumstances! :) She is absolutely gorgeous.

I loved this dress, pearls, and heels outfit she picked out:

She is too cute. Other ladies can take note from Gianna’s session — she did a really great job using accessories (and cute shoes!) and choosing a variety of outfits and styles for her photos. I loved it!

Green is a great color. :)

Gianna is an amazing golfer. She spent a lot of her summer (and a lot of her school year) on the golf course or playing in tournaments. So, of course, we had to take some of her senior photos on the golf course. We visited Milburn Country Club for the photos, and it was beautiful. What you can’t see in these photos are the building clouds, and what you can’t hear are the claps of thunder. :)

Personalized golf shoes!

Besides the poses with her gear, we had to grab a few shots of Gianna in her normal golf pose — carrying her bag!

About a minute we jumped in the golf course to head back, the rain came down! What perfect timing! :) We’ll end with one cute shot of our fearless golf cart driver… and beautiful senior! :)

Gianna, congratulations on your senior year. I hope golf season goes so well this year, and that you don’t get asked too many times what your college plans are. :) I hope the search goes great, though!

Operation: Love Reunited Session, Kansas City April 5, 2009

I met up with this adorable family last Friday for an Operation: Love Reunited session. Their dad/husband has been deployed since last October, and we captured some great photos of his wife and boys to send over as a surprise.

We met up at Antioch Park, which is a really fun place for kids to have a photo session, because there is so much to see and do!

Four-year-olds are great during photography sessions… this little guy was no exception! :) What a cute smile!

Two-year-olds don’t like the camera quite as much as their older siblings. :) Sometimes, distraction is the key to great photos!

I love these photos of mom and her boys!

Boys are so adventurous. I love getting to capture their exploratory personalities. :)

Enjoy the photos! I can’t wait to send a surprise album to your husband/dad overseas.
